"Too Late to Compromise" is capturing the clash in a relationship when one person isn't following through with their commitments leaving the other partner unfulfilled. When what they say they are doing doesn't line up with reality. When one partner is over promising but under delivering.
Seventies disco & punk were the inspirations. Leaving space for everyone’s parts was my goal. We listened to Blondie, The Gossip & Donna Summer for inspiration. I went in to record drums three days after my second dose of Pfizer and I was feeling unsteady. You can’t tell from the track but I was clinging on to peppermint tea, soda water & rescue remedy pastilles! The disco beat is super chill at 116 BPM so I was able to make my way through it with the help of our fabulous producer Timothy Robert Graham. When I started losing energy Cat talked to me for a minute about something random which was really grounding. With this song less was more when it came to drums. In the end "Too Late To Compromise" is a game changer for Moon Palace. Take me to the gay disco and let's wander the dance floor until we meet in the middle.
